لا يريد أي سائح رؤية أكوام من القمامة في موقع خلاب، ولكن يبدو أن السفر يشمل الكثير من الأدوات البلاستيكية التي تستخدم مرة واحدة.
غير أنه يوجد طرق يمكن بها خفض هذه المواد الصغيرة حتى لو بدا أنها الخيار الأكثر صحية، مثل قنينات الشامبو الصغيرة لوضعها في حقيبة السفر.
المشكلة في العبوات الصغيرة أنها عادة ما تكون للاستعمال مرة واحدة.
وتقول مارتينا فون مونشهاوزن من الصندوق العالمي للطبيعة غير الحكومي إن الأشخاص يشترونها ويستخدمونها بسرعة ثم يتخلصون منها.
وفي الوقت نفسه، غالباً ما تكون إدارة المخلفات في وجهات العطلات هزيلة، حيث يتم فصل القليل من البلاستيك لإعادة التدوير. ويعتقد الخبراء أيضاً أنه حتى في المدن شديدة التحضر، مستويات إعادة تدوير البلاستيك محدودة، وأن الكثير من البلاستيك ما زال ينتهي به الحال في مكبات النفايات أو حتى يتم حرقها لتوليد الطاقة حسب تقرير وكالة الأنباء الألمانية.

وتقول إنه يمكن القيام بشيء مختلف وشراء بدائل خالية من البلاستيك، مثل قوالب الصابون والشامبو الصلب. ويكون الأثر الكربوني لهذه الأشياء أقل، حيث إنها تزن أقل وتشغل مساحة أقل أيضاً خلال الشحن من القنينات الأكبر حجماً من الشامبو وغسول الجسم.

Casey Affleck, Oscar kazanmasını "biraz travmatik" bir deneyim diye niteledi.

51 yaşındaki Affleck, Kenneth Lonergan imzalı drama Yaşamın Kıyısında'daki (Manchester by the Sea) performansıyla 2017 töreninde En İyi Erkek Oyuncu ödülünü kazanmıştı. Ancak o gece adının okunmasını beklemiyormuş.

Oyuncu, Variety'ye verdiği yeni röportajda deneyimini, "Denzel Washington'ın [Fences'la] kazanmasını bekliyordum. O sahnede durmak zorunda kaldığım an çok korkutucuydu. Ne söylediğimi hiç hatırlamıyorum. Ama teşekkür etmem gereken herkesin adını anmadığımı hatırlıyorum. Kenneth'e teşekkür etmedim, bu filmi çekmem için beni cesaretlendiren ve başından sonuna kadar destekleyen çocuklarıma da teşekkür etmedim" diye anlattı.

Aktör, "Biraz travmatikti" diye devam etti.

Sahneden inerken, perdenin arkasında duran Leonardo DiCaprio'yu gördüğümü hatırlıyorum. Hâlâ korkudan ve şaşkınlıktan ne yapacağımı bilemez haldeydim, o ise sadece gülüyordu ve bana kocaman sarıldı. O zaman kendimi daha iyi hissettim.

Affleck'in Oscar ödüllü performansı geniş çapta övgü toplamıştı. The Independent için kaleme aldığı 4 yıldızlı eleştiride Geoffrey Macnab, Affleck'in "metot oyunculuğu tarzındaki mükemmel performansına" dikkat çekmişti.

Macnab şöyle yazmıştı: 

Affleck, Lee'yi gözlerinde acı dolu ve afallamış bir ifadeyle canlandırıyor. Filmin başlarında bir müşterinin onu azarladığı ve onun da kadına küfrettiği çok anlamlı bir an var ('Ne yaptığınız s***mde değil Bayan Olsen'). Görünürdeki tüm saldırganlığına rağmen kaderci bir tavrı var. Görevlerini verimli ama robotik bir şekilde yerine getiriyor, her türlü insani temastan kaçınıyor ancak acısını hissedebiliyoruz.

Affleck daha önce Korkak Robert Ford'un Jesse James Suikastı'yla (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford / 2007) da En İyi Yardımcı Erkek Oyuncu dalında Oscar'a aday gösterilmişti. Oscar adaylığı aldığı rollerin yanı sıra Bir Hayalet Hikayesi (A Ghost Story / 2017) ve Light of My Life'ta (2019) da oynamıştı.

Son projelerinden Company adlı dram filminde annesi, oğlu ve partneri rol alıyor.

Affleck'in Aralık 2025'te pankreas kanseri teşhisi konan annesi Chris, filmin tamamlanmış halini göremeden haziranda hayatını kaybetmişti.

Affleck'in ebeveynlerine adadığı film, önceki haftalarda Venedik Film Festivali'nde prömiyerini yapmıştı.

Variety'ye Company'nin çekimleri hakkında konuşan Affleck, "Sadece sevdiğim insanlarla çalışmayı tercih ederim. Bunu şiddetle tavsiye ediyorum" dedi. 

Yıllar boyunca onları bırakıp filme giderdim ve onları özlerdim. Artık arkadaşlarımı ve ailemi mümkün olduğunca projelerime dahil etmeyi planlıyorum.

German Great Muller Isn’t Ready to Retire, Signs Extension with Vancouver Whitecaps

Thomas Muller is not ready to retire.

The Vancouver Whitecaps announced Tuesday that the club has signed the German soccer great to a contract extension through Major League Soccer’s 2027 “sprint season.”

The sprint season is set to run from February through May 2027 before the league switches to the international summer-to-spring calendar in July 2027.

“So far it’s a hell of a ride. It’s really fun to be with this team, to be with these people and to be with the club,” Muller said in a video released by the Whitecaps. “And my body is still good.

“I just feel that it’s so much fun to be out on the pitch, week in and week out. Every match day is a good day for me. And we want to achieve our goals.”

Reaching the extension required the 37-year-old Muller to evaluate how his body was feeling and whether he could physically handle another season, Whitecaps CEO and sporting director Axel Schuster said.

“He’s smart enough to say, ‘I don’t want to be on the pitch one day, and people say, ‘You should have stopped,’'" Schuster said. “He doesn’t need that. He had his massive career. He could have retired before he came to Vancouver, and he can retire at any given end of a season, and everyone will be happy. And he doesn’t want to play then over that time.”

Muller signed with Vancouver in August 2025 following 17 seasons with Bayern Munich, where he scored 250 goals across all competitions.

The midfielder has continued to be a dominant force in MLS, tallying 16 goals and 11 assists over 29 regular-season games.

He has made 45 appearances across all competitions for the Whitecaps, contributing 19 goals and 12 assists in the process, and was named an MLS All-Star this summer.

Before joining the Whitecaps, Muller led Bayern to 13 league championships and 33 total titles.

He also won the 2014 World Cup with Germany, scoring five goals in the tournament, and took home the Golden Boot from the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, finishing with five goals and three assists.

Muller said he isn’t done yet.

“I really appreciate to be here, hunting titles with this team, especially the MLS Cup,” he said. “And the journey continues. But that doesn’t mean that we kind of take it easy this year. But we have another bullet.”

With Muller in its ranks, the club won the MLS Western Conference title last season and made it to its first MLS Cup final, falling 3-1 to Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami.

Vancouver has hovered around the top of the league standings this season, and currently holds first place in the Western Conference with a 15-6-5 record.

The Trump administration has withdrawn the United States from a top European anti-corruption watchdog as it forges ahead with plans to disengage from international and multilateral organizations that it accuses of exceeding their mandates, being inefficient or not adapting to US policies.

The Council of Europe said Tuesday that the US formally notified it a day earlier that it would leave the Group of States against Corruption, or GRECO. Only two other countries have left GRECO before — Russia and Belarus.

The State Department confirmed the move, saying that US participation, which requires an annual monetary contribution, “does not provide tangible benefits to US national security.”

“The era of writing blank checks to international bureaucracies is over,” it said. “The department is instead prioritizing higher-impact tools to combat corruption, such as visa restrictions, sanctions, and targeted foreign assistance to strengthen foreign criminal investigations into corruption directly threatening US security and prosperity.”

The Strasbourg-based Council of Europe said the US had been “a valuable contributor” to GRECO "and to the exchange of experience and good practice in preventing and combating corruption.”

“GRECO remains open to resuming cooperation with the United States in the future in support of shared efforts to prevent corruption, strengthen integrity and uphold the rule of law,” it said in a statement.

The decision was announced a week after the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe said the US had declined to invite its members to observe November’s congressional midterm elections, a sharp break from past practice.

The US has already withdrawn from a number of European-based UN and multilateral agencies, including the World Health Organization and the UN Human Rights Council, and is weighing further such steps.

The US withdrew in January from another Council of Europe panel — the Venice Commission, which is an advisory body on constitutional law.

GRECO was created in 1999 by the Council of Europe to monitor compliance with the organization’s anti-corruption standards. Membership is not limited to European Union members, and the United States joined a year after its founding.
