Hamas Delegation Meets With Khamenei’s Advisor
Iran’s relations with Hamas are “important and growing,” the head of Iran’s Foreign Policy Council and one of Iran’s spiritual leader’s advisers, Kamal Kharazi, said on the sidelines of his meeting with the deputy head of Hamas political bureau, Saleh al-Arouri.
Kharazi met on Sunday with a visiting delegation from Hamas. He said that he discussed “issues and problems in Al-Quds Al-Sharif and the Gaza Strip,” according to the Tasnim agency of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards intelligence service.
“The Americans have revealed their papers today and are implementing their policies in support of the Zionist entity without any cover,” the Iranian foreign policy advisor said, adding that the current US dealing was different to its previous strategies.
The head of Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, said that the movement was looking forward to achieving important results from its delegation’s visit to Tehran.
Sources told the German news agency that the delegation would discuss development of bilateral relations with Tehran, especially in terms of political and financial support for the Palestinian “resistance” to Israel.
According to the sources, Hamas’ current visit to Iran was the most important since the deterioration of their bilateral relations due to their disagreement over the Syrian revolution in 2011 and the departure of Hamas leaders from Damascus.
After mid-2017, Hamas officials spoke of opening a new page of relations with Tehran, including the resumption of financial support from Iran to Al-Qassam’s Brigade, the movement’s military wing.
