The Egyptian armed forces announced on Monday that they were continuing joint military drills with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and United States in the Red Sea territorial waters.

Military spokesman Tamer al-Rifai said that members of the special forces from each of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the US are following up on the joint Egyptian-American exercises.

The drills will continue for several days in the Red Sea, he added in a statement on his official Facebook page.

He said that the past few days witnessed the preparations for the maneuvers. Several activities and events that covered field practices and combat tactics were held.

The purpose of the training is honing the skills of the joint forces, unifying operational concepts and exchanging expertise, Rifai explained.

The launch of the maneuvers was accompanied by the arrival of US and UAE vessels in the region.
