Chairman of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Presidential Council Bakir Izetbegovic praised Monday Saudi Arabia’s role in helping his country overcome war, resume reconstruction and resort to political stability and economic growth.
This came during his reception of President of Saudi General Commission for Tourism and National Heritage Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz at the headquarters of the presidential council in Sarajevo.
At the outset of the meeting, Prince Sultan conveyed the greetings of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his appreciation of the government and people of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Prince Sultan explained that he is visiting the country upon the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and his keenness to deepen the relations between the two states and open new horizons of bilateral cooperation, and in response to an invitation from Izetbegovic.
He also explained that King Salman pays special attention to the relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina since his chairing of the Council for Assisting Bosnia and Herzegovina during the war in the Balkan region, his visit to Sarajevo in 2000, his meeting with late President Alija Izetbegovis as well as his follow up with the rehabilitation projects, which led to stronger economic ties between the two countries.
Izetbegovic, for his part, expressed his personal appreciation to the role of the Kingdom in developing his country, making King Salman an exceptional figure to the Bosnian people.
He looked forward to strengthening fraternal relations between the two friendly peoples in various human fields and communication at the level of peoples, culture and heritage.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral cooperation in the presence of the Director of the Office of the Bosnian President, the Saudi ambassador to Sarajevo and the accompanying delegation of Prince Sultan.
