Michael Loginov, head of NEOM’s cyber security sector, unveiled plans to build a future-oriented economy and a new model of extraordinary livelihoods, create prosperous businesses, and reinvent the conservation of the environment, through exciting technologies that will bridge the gap between the man and the machine.

On cyber security plans, Loginov said: “We rely on cyber security to develop and deploy strategies to help build resilience through the Internet in our platforms, systems and operations.”

In exclusive remarks to Asharq Al-Awsat, he also pointed to the adoption of a “safe approach” to develop new capabilities, with academics across the country, in order to promote cybersecurity skills among Saudi citizens, and to help NEOM residents understand and mitigate cyber risks to society.

On the importance of cyberspace for smart cities, the NEOM official said: “Cyber security for smart cities is as important as oxygen for humans; it will be like breathing. At (NEOM), we will build it from the start so that we can start with the highest standards of cybersecurity.”

On the most important initiatives to be launched by NEOM in 2020 in the field of artificial intelligence, Loginov affirmed that several initiatives would be discussed and presented, but declined to give further details.

“Our future will be shaped by exciting technologies that will clear the gap between man and machine, through an artificially intelligent program. The Internet of things that can sense human needs and the smooth transition between physical and virtual worlds and daily robots will create more time to live,” he revealed.
