Turkey will begin to repatriate captured ISIS militants to their home countries as of Monday, Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu was quoted as saying by state media on Friday.

Turkey has long criticized its European allies for refusing to take back ISIS members who are their citizens, Reuters reported.

Also, Soylu had stated earlier that his country would return captured ISIS members to their countries of origin even if their citizenships had been revoked, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

“We are telling them: ‘We’ll repatriate these people to you’, and we are starting as of Monday,” Anadolu news agency quoted Soylu as saying.

He did not explain precisely how they would be returned or what would happen if their home countries would not accept them.

Turkey has captured several hundred people affiliated with ISIS over the last month as its forces seized a pocket of territory in northeastern Syria
