A new study found that poverty, unemployment and low education are linked to a lower life expectancy in Germany.

Researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research said that after the assessment of two million data sets, the death odds of men aged 30 to 59 years increased by 150 percent among the five with the lowest income, compared with the five with the highest income, the German News Agency reported.

In this age group, unemployment doubled the risk of death, while a low level of education raised it by around 30 percent, the research team reported in the journal BMJ Open.

Experts analyzed pension insurance data for 27 million employees, aged between 30 and 59, in 2013.

"For the first time, we are based on a reliable database when analyzing individual factors and their impact on mortality rates in Germany," said Lead Author Pavel Grigoriev said.
