Saudi Defense Ministry announced accepting to receive additional reinforcements from the United States, including troops and defense equipment.

Its decision comes in line with the joint bilateral work to maintain regional security and face any attempts to threaten stability in the region and the global economy and based on the historical relations and partnership between both countries.

The Ministry’s decision is in accordance with directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, supreme commander of all military forces, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, deputy premier and Minister of Defense.

An official source at the Defense Ministry said the United States shares the Saudi government’s keenness to maintain regional security and refuses to compromise it in any way.

The Kingdom considers the military partnership with the US a historic extension of strategic relations and alignment of goals to ensure international peace and security, the official added.

The US announced the deployment of additional American military forces to Saudi Arabia on Friday to bolster the Kingdom's defenses after the September 14 attack on its oil facilities, which Washington and Riyadh have blamed on Iran.

The Pentagon said it plans to send four radar systems, a battery of Patriot missiles and about 200 support personnel to bolster Saudi Arabia’s defenses.
