Queen Elizabeth II has recruited a few different members of staff this year. First, Buckingham Palace needed a gardener, then, Her Majesty was on the hunt for a Digital Communications Officer to help take their social media presence to the next level and finally a chef to keep the palace's kitchens ticking.

And the latest job up for grabs is also nothing short of being interesting. The Queen and the Royal Family, in general, are known for their love of horses and the current vacancy for a 'Liveried Helper' shows just that.

Based at the Royal Mews, the full-time position comes with a rather decent salary and its own accommodation in the palace quarters.

According to the job ad on the Royal Household website, the successful candidate would need to have a "passion for horses" as well as "experience working in a yard" in order to earn around £22,400 a year.

You will also need to be a "highly capable and confident rider" as you will be responsible for the animals' upkeep and daily care which includes exercising and training them as well as preparing them for ceremonial activities.

Other duties will include maintaining the stables and cleaning the saddlery and harnesses to keep the Royal Mews in tip-top condition. As well as preparing the horses for ceremonial activities, the new recruit needs to be willing to become knowledgeable in driving carriages as he will have the opportunity to drive the horses on the day of important events.

Applications close at 11.55 pm on Thursday, October 10 with interviews expected to be held on October 21 and 22.
