The Saudi cabinet reiterated on Tuesday the Kingdom’s ability to respond to attacks, vowing that it will defend its territory and vital installations.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet meeting that was held in Jeddah.

He stressed Saudi Arabia’s ability to tackle the repercussions of the cowardly attacks that not only target the Kingdom’s vital installations, but the global economy and energy supplies.

The cabinet said the hostile and unprecedented attack are primarily aimed at global energy supplies and are an extension of previous hostile attacks against Aramco installations with Iranian weapons.

It called on the international community to assume its responsibility in condemning those behind the attacks and clearly confronting these barbaric acts that strike at the core of the global economy.

The cabinet was briefed on the inspection carried out by energy minister to the Abqaiq and Khurais plants

It vowed that the Kingdom will defend its territory and vital installations. It is capable of responding to such acts regardless of their source, urging the international community to take firmer measures to deter such flagrant attacks and hold those behind them to account.

Furthermore, King Salman briefed the ministers on the telephone discussions he held with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. He reiterated Riyadh’s strong condemnation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s vow to annex the Jordan Valley should he claim victory in elections that got underway on Tuesday.

The Saudi cabinet slammed the announcement, deeming it a “very dangerous escalation” against the Palestinian people and flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter, international law and treaties. It also cripples all efforts and proposals aimed at reaching a permanent, comprehensive and fair peace in the region.

It called on the international community to assume its legal, moral and humanitarian responsibilities to confront the Israeli crimes and violations against the Palestinian people.
