The Saudi cabinet renewed on Tuesday the Kingdom’s support for the power-sharing agreement reached last week between Sudan’s ruling military council and opposition.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet meeting in Jeddah.

The ministers hoped that the Sudan deal will be the beginning of a new phase marked by peace and stability that will meet the aspirations of the Sudanese people.

King Salman also briefed the gatherers on the discussions he held with United Nations High-Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations Miguel Angel Moratinos and British Treasury secretary Philip Hammond.

He also welcomed Hajj pilgrims as they begin to flock to the Kingdom to perform this year’s annual rituals. He urged various government and civil agencies to ensure that the pilgrims perform the rituals smoothly.

Media Minister Turki al-Shabanah said King Salman urged pilgrims to steer clear of ruining the sanctity of the holy pilgrimage and refrain from making sectarian or political chants.

Such behavior will be absolutely rejected and the necessary measures will be taken to address them, he added.
