Riyadh- Asharq Al-Awsat
Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi has stressed his legitimate government’s adherence to the three terms of reference for peace with Houthi militias, according to Yemeni official sources.

This took place during his meeting in Riyadh with US Ambassador Christopher Henzel.

According to the same sources, Hadi also received Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed Al Jaber and stressed the deep-rooted and unique bilateral relations that are based on partnership and common aim and destination.

The President handed Al Jaber a written cable to be delivered to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saba news agency reported.

It said the letter talked about the brotherly relations and prospects of bolstering them.

It included comprehensive and concise details of the overall conditions and challenges currently faced by Yemen.

For his part, the Saudi diplomat confirmed brotherly relations between the two countries.

He pointed to the Kingdom’s firm positions in supporting Yemen and its legitimate leadership to achieve people’s wills and aspirations for peace, security, stability and decent living, according to Saba.

In his other meeting with Henzel, Yemeni sources said both sides discussed a series of issues and subjects related to the war-torn country and the developments in general.

Hadi stressed his government’s commitment to the peace for which concessions were made and is based on the three references represented by the Gulf initiative, its executive mechanism, outcomes of the national dialogue and relevant UN resolutions, mainly resolution 2216.

He praised the US support and efforts to reach peace in Yemen, hailing their joint cooperation at various levels.

Henzel, for his part, expressed his pleasure to meet with Hadi and said the meeting comes within the framework of bilateral consultation and joint cooperation.

He affirmed his country’s continuous support for Yemen and its legitimate government.

The United States is considered among the leaders of the peace process in Yemen and of the transition process against which Houthis overthrew in late 2014.

It has been leading qualitative operations and air strikes for years to hunt down al-Qaeda and ISIS terrorist organizations.
