Lebanon’s foreign minister pushed his nationalism to a “genetic” level. He then explained that his nationalism stems from genetics, same as all those concerned.
Thus, we are made of a pure genetic industry that is not modified by a human decision. This is the fate to which we are condemned.
The genetic level has already created a pseudo-science known to the Nazis as "Eugenics." This "science" allowed, among other things, the forced purification of "degenerate races" that should not reproduce and multiply. The mouse should not mingle with Superman: the first will never become a superman, but the second may degenerate into a mouse.
It is OK to remind of some facts. Lebanon is witnessing actions towards the Syrian and Palestinian refugees, some of which are closely related to "Eugenics". There are also slogans, even "policies," demanding the immediate return of the Syrians to their country, which has become “safe to return to.”
A single news bulletin about Hama and Idlib makes it clear that these "policies" are an explicit call to kill "useless" Syrians. This is accompanied by words broadcast by circles close to the minister’s political environment; words glorifying racism with an ostentatious proclamation: "Yes, we are racist", they say.
There is also a quest to show strength. In the recent parliamentary elections, the term “strong” was widely used to describe the lists and candidates, and also to describe areas they wanted to represent: the Mountain is strong so is the valley. The struggle of power between the North, the South, and the Bekaa was in full swing. When the word “strong” is not mentioned, its synonyms emerged: masculinity, ingenuity, fierceness, grinding rock... No wonder that a "weak" object such as a mother is not given the right to grant citizenship to her son or daughter.
Power is the fashion of our day: world leaders are proof. If massive blocs in advanced countries have decided to turn away from modernity and enlightenment, why should similar blocs in Lebanon abandon choices adopted by Mr. Trump or Mrs. Le Pen?
In fact, this country, whose one of the most prominent parties engaged in the war on Syria, is really fascinated by “force”, in a way that raises doubts about the weakness that is intended to be concealed.
We are strong, says Hezbollah, hinting at the rockets. The "tenure", in turn, is strong, according to the wisdom of the Aounist environment. Partners in the “Mar Mikhael understanding”, these two found their way to the Club of the Strong.
But the differences are unmistakable. The "Movement" speaks of "power" as much as the party puts it into practice. Moreover, the strength of the latter and its army prevent the "power of the tenure" from being taken seriously.
However, both parties are not strong in the way they want to be. They cannot, for example, force us to implement “Eugenics” or any other similar mission. Thus, the "party" employs most of its power abroad, only to take away from the inside the conditions to perform its external task.
This disparity is due to the fact that we are witnessing frantic sectarian situations, but we are not facing a panicked national situation. The sects may produce fascist reactions and impulses, but they do not generate a complete state of fascism, which is linked, among other things, to the emergence of universal nationalism.
Here, sectarian people raise the slogan of nationalism to compensate for their lack of nationalism. They try, for example, to convince us that the whole "nation" is behind their demand for war outside the borders or to expel outsiders.
This difference between sectarianism and nationalism is what the Lebanese rhetoric tries to cover with the term "exaggeration". Fans of “exaggeration” often try to delude us about the existence of an alleged unit that helps the weak grow stronger, extort us with the heroes who sacrifice on our behalf and, of course, to our advantage, in order to achieve those goals.
“Unhappy the land that is in need of heroes”, Galileo said, in the words of Bertolt Brecht. Lebanon is a blatant proof.
This crisis of the Lebanese people is exacerbated by the fact that it is further complicated by the problems of minorities in Lebanon and across the Levant.
Only the hypocritical and the fanatic deny these problems, which are constantly aggravated. They are the only ones who fantasize that the display of force is the treatment.
Behind us is enough evidence that "power" in Lebanon is a tool for inciting hatred among the Lebanese. One should deeply reflect on a famous phrase uttered by a wise politician, who faced harsh criticism for saying what he said: “The power of Lebanon lies in its weakness.”
