The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) will be hosting the first Emirati Book Fair from May 26 to 28 at the SBA headquarters in al-Zahia region.

The authority statement on the event reads "the SBA seeks to promote local content including books, novels, historical titles, and other publications; the fair will also host the Emirates Publishers Association’s program, the Manassah platform, which will showcase more than 1,000 titles by 13 publishers and bring together visitors through seminars and discussion panels that will host many creative and talented Emirati authors."

The SBA fair, which will be open to the public from 9:30pm to 12:30am, will include seminars and discussion panels that bring together a group of Emirati intellects who will shed light on a variety of cultural issues, as well as cultural and creative symposia led by authors and writers who will talk about their experiences and discuss a number of topics that serve the national writer and play a role in enhancing his knowledge and creativity.

SBA chairman Ahmad Bin Rakkad Al Ameri said: "The exhibition is a great opportunity for Emirati writers to share their works that reflect the local culture and folklore conveying heritage and historical messages about the UAE.”

“It also allows people to benefit from literary experiences and exchange them with others, to enrich the creative activity and add new and sophisticated cognitive and intellectual options to Emirati writers,” he said.

Khoula Al Mujaini, the director of Fairs and Festivals at the SBA, said: "The event gathers all the creative writing genres introduced by Emirati writers and intellectuals. It is a promising event to learn about novels, poetry, and prose, shining a spotlight on the authentic culture of the UAE and introducing visitors to the creative Emiratis behind these works."
