The China-Arab States Cooperation Forum kicked off on Tuesday in Tunis.
The eighth Arab-Chinese Businessmen Conference and the sixth Arab-Chinese Investment Forum were held within the main forum.
The event is co-organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Secretariat of the Arab League and the Union of Arab Chambers.
With the theme of "Sharing development opportunities, realizing win-win results," a group of prominent Arab and Tunisian businessmen and more than 150 businessmen representing giant Chinese institutions attended the forum.
Tunisian Prime Minister Youssef Chahed organized the event that witnessed the participation of a number of Tunisian government members, including Investment and International Cooperation Minister Ziad Al-Athari.
The forum tackled possible ways to support financial and investment cooperation between China and Arab countries, diversification of Sino-Arab economic ties within the 4th Industrial Revolution and investment climate and opportunities in Tunisia.
Kamal Hassan Ali, assistant secretary general of the Arab League in charge of economic affairs, lauded China for establishing an excellent mechanism for cooperation and exchanges with Arab states.
Samir Majoul, President of the Tunisian Union of Industry, stressed the importance of this conference, and its topics. The fact that the conference reached its 8th edition proves the success of economic approaches between the Chinese and Arab sides, he said.
He called on China to exploit Tunisia’s location to promote its products in the African and European continents.
The Arab-Chinese Businessmen Conference, which was held in Beirut in 2015, witnessed an agreement to build the economic belt of the Silk Road and establish a strategic partnership between both sides.
Financial experts and economists expected trade exchange among Silk Road countries to reach USD3 trillion by 2025, creating thousands of job opportunities.
