At least 13 members of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), previously known as al-Nusra Front, have been arrested in anti-terror operations in Adana, southern Turkey.

The arrested suspects were accused of aiding the HTS terrorist organization with recruiting efforts and funneling money to the group, as well as participating in attacks in Syria.

Counter-terrorism units of the Adana Provincial Security Directorate launched Sunday a security operation to arrest 16 suspects for belonging to HTS in Adana, Istanbul and Ankara, revealed Turkish security sources.

These security operations coincided with a Turkish security meeting along the Syrian border near Idlib Province, which is dominated by HTS.

Anadolu Agency revealed that the security forces and the Special Forces Command stormed the suspects’ houses, arresting 13 people in Adana, Istanbul, and Ankara on suspicion of repeatedly entering Syria, participating in battles there, recruiting fighters, and providing financial and logistic support to the group.

Turkey designated the HTS as a terrorist group on August 31, 2018. Its decision is in line with the policy of the United States and other Western countries.
