Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed on Thursday a ballistic missile fired by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen towards the Kingdom.

Saudi-led Arab coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki announced that the missile was fired from Yemen’s Amran region towards Saudi Arabia’s Jizan city.

It was deliberately directed at residential areas, but the air defenses destroyed it, he added.

No one was injured in the incident.

This hostile act demonstrates the Iranian regime’s ongoing involvement in supporting the Houthis with weapons in clear and blatant violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions 2216 and 2231, he stressed.
