Palestinian factions, political figures, writers and analysts have strongly criticized Qatari Ambassador Muhammad Al-Emadi, who is in charge of the Qatar National Committee for the Reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

The ambassador has told Xinhua news agency about indirect contacts between Hamas and Israel on the situation in Gaza and a prisoner swap deal.

Hamas Movement denied the existence of any direct or indirect contacts with the Israeli side, rejecting any deal of any kind. Sources close to Hamas said the movement refused to link the humanitarian situation in Gaza with any other issue, and avoided commenting directly on the ambassador’s remarks.

Osama al-Qawasmi, spokesman for the movement, said that Israel and those who support it, were those who want the Palestinian issue to be resolved from the humanitarian side at the expense of the political file and rights to self-determination.

Al-Emadi told Xinhua that Israel had promised not to engage in any military confrontation with Qatari projects.

For its part, the resistance committees in Palestine said the blood of the Palestinian people were more expensive than the projects of Emadi, who “wants to impose a guardianship on the Gaza Strip, or be a mediator of international initiatives.”

“It is clear that the Qatari ambassador is dealing with Gaza from a logic far from diplomacy, bypassing all the red lines,” wrote political analyst Hossam al-Dajani, who is close to Hamas, on his Facebook page.

Al-Dajani called on the Palestinian factions to demand the dismissal of Al-Emadi after his recent statements.
