Saudi King Offers to Fund Iraq Football Stadium

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz promised to build Iraq a football stadium in a phone call with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Monday, the premier’s office said.

The statement said King Salman praised the friendly match held between the two countries' teams in Basra last week as a “success.”

They also discussed how to enhance and strengthen cooperation between their countries, and the Iraqi-Saudi Joint Coordination Council, the statement added.

The Iraqi-Saudi Ministerial Coordination Council met on Monday to discuss the measures needed to be taken to improve cooperation in the economic, investment, cultural and other sectors.

The general secretariat of the council of ministers said in a statement that the meeting was briefed on coordination in trade, economy, agriculture, water resources, health, culture, transportation, youth and sports, and education.
