Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi is scheduled to travel on Sunday to the Sultanate of Oman as part of Gulf tour.

He will meet with Sultan Qaboos and number of senior officials during his three-day Oman visit.

He will then head to the United Arab Emirates where he is scheduled to hold talks with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan on various political and economic issues.

This will mark the first trip for an Egyptian president to Oman in nine years.

Official spokesman for the presidency Bassam al-Radi said that the Muscat trip will focus on bolstering bilateral cooperation in various fields, as well as tackle the latest regional and international developments.

Sisi is keen on improving the fraternal and historic ties between Cairo and Muscat, he added.

He will also meet with a number of Omani businessmen and industrialists as part of efforts to bolster economic and trade with Egypt.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri had paid a visit to Oman in November as part of a tour that included Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
