Southern Border Now under Complete Saudi Control – Military Official

25/11/2009

Jizan, Asharq Al-Awsat-Saudi military sources confirmed yesterday that many of the commanders of the Huthi infiltrators have been killed, while a number of others have been captured attempting to flee the conflict in disguise. This comes at the same time that the Royal Saudi Air Force is launching constant attacks against the Huthi insurgent's strategic camps and fortifications, which sources confirmed were completely destroyed.

A Saudi military official also confirmed to Asharq Al-Awsat that the Huthi infiltrators are no longer able to infiltrate the Saudi Arabian interior because the entire Saudi border is being monitored by Saudi forces. The military official said that any Huthi infiltrate trying to penetrate the Saudi border will only find two choices in front of him "either to surrender or die."

For his part, Asir Governor Prince Faisal Bin Khalid Bin Abdulaziz conveyed the condolences of the Saudi leadership to the family of paratrooper Captain Khalid Bin Abdul Rahman al-Zahim who was killed two days ago on the frontlines in fighting with the Huthi infiltrators. Prince Faisal Bin Khalid visited the family of Captain al-Zahim in their home in Asir province where he spoke with the father of the dead soldier, Abdul Rahman al-Zahim. The Asir Governor said "I express my pride in the martyr and hero [Khalid al-Zahim], who was honorably killed in the field of battle in defense of his country."

The Prince stressed that all soldiers who were martyred in this conflict are a source of pride for the people of Saudi Arabia "because they sacrificed their lives top destroy the deviant group [the Huthis] and so that the homeland can remain upright, God willing."

Prince Faisal Bin Khalid also conveyed the condolences and sympathy of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz, and Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Prince Naif Bin Abdulaziz, to the families of soldiers Marae Bin Mohamed Ahmed Al-Asmary and Abdul Rahman Auda Al-Ahmary who were martyred in clashes with the Huthi infiltrators in the border region.

A source in the relief camp set up to shelter the Saudi citizens displaced by this conflict confirmed to Asharq Al-Awsat that the safety and security of the displaced citizens are paramount, and this is being overseen by the relevant authorities.

The source also confirmed that there are preparations being undertaken by the authorities in the relief shelter to organize the establishment of other camps that the displaced citizens can be transferred to after they are provided with everything that they need.

The source said that the displaced citizens are being provided with accommodation and everything else that they might require, and that these camps are fully fenced off to ensure the safety of the displaced citizens. The source also revealed that a special pass-card is being given to each displaced person in order for the authorities to be aware of everybody entering and exiting the camps, and that security has been tightened in the camps with regards to the entrance of cars and visitors.
